For decades, user experience designers have fought against the idea of design as decoration and insisted that our contributions extend beyond usability into customer insight, market analysis, problem-solving, and product strategy. At its heart, this misconception is perpetuated by companies hiring UX designers and only utilizing them for UI work, or organizations that see value in designing screens that meet their own, narrowly defined criteria.
